River Living
River Living offers a unique concept for living or working on water.
An architect-designed living space manufactured to Bespoke’s high standards and quality, combined with tried and tested American-manufactured pontoon technology, ready for installation on rivers, canals, lakes or other inland open water.
With its living roof, large glass area, modern, infinitely-adaptable interior, high quality décor, fittings and equipment and exterior decked patio area, our River Living product provides truly Bespoke living accommodation whether on a city-centre watercourse or in the heart of the countryside.
Either as an alternative to an expensive riverside apartment or as a unique country retreat, our River Living product offers the benefits of free-floating, self-contained accommodation on water without the compromises of poorly-adapted so-called ‘houseboats’.
Floating homes are an established and accepted concept in the United States – the Tom Hanks character in ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ lived in a house on water. You may also have read some of the recent coverage about the adoption of the floating home concept in the Netherlands – where several floating home developments have already been completed and many more are planned. As far as we are aware, the concept has never before been developed for use in the country, we at Bespoke aim to be at the forefront of its introduction.
Our vision has been to create a living space which offers all of the practicalities, style and comfort of a contemporary apartment combined with the freedom and advantages of living on water. We believe that we have succeeded in this with our River Living concept – which provides 700 square feet (gross) interior accommodation together with 100 square feet of exterior decked patio area.
The concept lends itself equally to an office working environment – the ability to provide self-contained office space on previously unused city centre water space offers a flexible and cost-effective alternative to conventional offices.
We are currently progressing a planning application for the installation of the first residential RiverLiving units for a customer at a site on a watercourse in a central city location. Once these are completed and installed we shall publish full details and photographs on this site. In the meantime we have provided these computer-generated illustrations and we will be more than happy to discuss with you the enormous potential and benefits on offer.
